Olive Oil

We all use olive oil in our salads or to prepare a dish. Olive oil is healthy and everyone should have a bottle in their kitchen. I like to flavor my olive oils as well and it is so easy to do so. This post will explain how to make garlic olive oil and it will not take long at all.

To start making your own flavored oils you will need to buy a 16-oz olive oil glass dispenser bottle with a spout. Make sure you rinse it with warm water and let the bottle dry out completely. In regards to what olive oil to use, I recommend a good extra virgin olive oil which you can buy at your local grocery store.

I like my garlic olive oil not to strong, so I use 4 medium size garlic gloves. Peel and slice in half. Drop the halves in the  bottle and pour the olive oil into the bottle and fill almost to the top. In order to get the garlic taste, the oil will have to sit for 24 hours.

You can do the same with dried, red jalapeño as well. For a nice spice just drop 3 medium-sized, dried and whole jalapeño’s into the bottle and add the oil. Let sit for 24 hours as well.

And you do not have to discard the garlic gloves or the jalapeño’s when your bottle is empty. You can refill up to three times or until you notice the garlic is getting a bit brown. When that happens, discard the garlic but keep the oil which you can add to the new oil. Just add fresh garlic. Drizzle over salads, marinate meat, poultry or fish. Use it for whatever you like. Enjoy!
